CANYON/CREEKSIDE AAAN
The Canyon/Creekside Middle Schools African American Alliance Network (“AAAN”) is a group of parents that works with school administrators, teachers and students to support knowledge, understanding and appreciation of African American heritage and culture, and to build a community that helps to enrich the experiences of the African American student body at Canyon and Creekside. Historically, the primary work of the group has been to help plan and host two events each year: the African American History Celebration (February) and The African American Achievement Awards Ceremony (April). Additional support is provided by sharing information and resources that may benefit African American students and/or their families. Any adult in the Canyon and Creekside communities is welcome to participate in this group, and we particularly encourage parents/caregivers of students of African American heritage to join our group. Meetings are typically held on the first Wednesday of every month in the Canyon D-8 or 11 classrooms at 6:30 pm. During COVID-19, meetings will be held virtually.
