Pamela Macy
for
Special Education Local Plan Area Director
Castro Valley, CA – (August 9, 2023) – At the August 9th board meeting, the Castro Valley Unified School District Board of Education took action to select Ms. Pamela Macy as Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) Director as part of a four school district membership. The SELPA Director collaborates with the California Department of Education to provide compliance for the Hayward, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, and Castro Valley school districts.
Ms. Macy is a highly experienced Speech Pathologist and Program Coordinator with over 50 years of expertise in Special Education. She has worked extensively with speech and language-impaired students in public and clinical settings. Ms. Macy also served as a Program Administrator and Supervisor in Designated Instructional Services (DIS), overseeing daily operations and service delivery. The supervision included coordinating services such as speech-language therapy, nursing, home/hospital, occupational and physical therapy, adaptive physical education, and vision and hearing services. Ms. Macy has also provided private consulting services to school districts throughout Northern California, and she is highly regarded for her guidance in various Special Education areas as a compliance officer.
Ms. Macy has a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of Oregon, Eugene. In addition, she has two master's degrees - one in Speech Pathology from George Washington University and the other in Education from San Francisco State University.
