What is Dual Language Immersion?

CVUSD uses a 90/10 model for Spanish Dual Language Immersion, where instruction begins with 90% in the target language (Spanish) and 10% in English in the early grades, gradually shifting to a 50/50 balance by upper elementary.

A chart shows language distribution by grade level in a dual-language program.

Program Span: TK–12

Our program launched with TK and Kindergarten in 2023–24. During the 2026–27 school year, our pioneer class will be in 4th grade.

Curriculum Highlights
Based on the language allocation per grade level, students receive instruction in Spanish or English.  We use the same curriculum in both languages to help our students become Bilingual, Biliterate and Bicultural ensuring high academic achievement in all core subjects.
