Alameda County Student Transit Pass Program
We want to make families aware of a transportation resource available to students experiencing financial hardship. The Student Transit Pass Program provides eligible students in grade 6-12 with a free Clipper Card, offering free AC Transit bus rides and discounted BART fares.
Pass Overview
Eligible middle and high school students in Alameda County can receive a free Student Transit Pass, offering:
- Unlimited free rides on AC Transit, Union City Transit, or Wheels
- 50% off BART fares*
- Discounts on other Bay Area transit systems (ex. SF Bay Ferry, Caltrain, SamTrans)
Use the pass to get to school, work, or anywhere you want to go, whether that’s during the school year or while you’re on summer break! And don’t worry about it expiring—the pass remains valid until you leave high school.
*Students under 19 receive their pass on a Youth Clipper card, which gives 50% off BART fares and youth discounts on other transit systems in addition to free local bus rides.
